- Scope and Contentmarriage intended between Lucy Taylor and William Beaumont; lands etc. of Lucy Taylor listed below conveyed to (iii) on trusts . . . . -- cottage in Stanford in Southill with orchard and close of pasture containing 1 acre 1 rood -- close of pasture in Stanford 3 acres -- piece of pasture in Stanford, Carlock Dam, 2 acre all in the occupation of John Simpkins -- cottage with orchard adjoining in Stanford in the occupation of widow Bowman -- cottage with garden adjoining in Stanford in the occupation of Henry Browning Lucy Taylor is also seized according to the custom of the manor of Langford of:- -- 2 parcels of meadow 6 acres in Broad Meadow belonging to Stanford in the parish of Southill -- one parcel :west Old Rea, a meadow heretofore of the Earl of Bolingbroke and since of Samuel Ongley :east river -- other parcel : at the north end of a meadow called Sour Leys next the hedge there -- communing for horses, cows and other cattle belonging to said premises Lucy Taylor was admitted to said premises at court held 9 September 1756 as daughter and devisee of Nathaniel Taylor, gentleman. Witnesses: Thomas Wells, Thomas R. Rayment. endorsed: “N.B. This settlement is of little or no Use now, as the within premises are all sold to Mr. Ongley. And other premises in Clifton (purchased by Mr. Beaumont of Mr. Brown) are settled by Mr. Beaumont on his wife in lieu July 1774” Deeds of Lease and Release of 4 and 5 May 1774 [V244,245]
