    Memorandum that Nathaniel Garner, as in Z 590/38, a customary copyhold tenant of the manor, came before Thomas James Hooper and William Henry Heath, two customary or copyhold tenants of the manor, and in consideration of £150 paid to him by James Scrogie, as in Z 590/38, and in pursuance of a covenant contained in Z 590/38, did Out of Court surrender into the hands of the Lord of the Manor by the acceptance of Thomas James Hooper & William Henry Heath, according to the custom of the manor, cottages and premises as in Z 590/38 (a - d), the general words specifying ‘buildings, fixtures, rights, easements, advantages and appurtenances’. Habendum to James Scrogie, his heirs and assigns for ever to be held at the will of the Lord etc. Z 590/38 (‘heriots’ not listed here) subject to and upon the express condition that if Nathaniel Garner pays James Scrogie £150 on 7 June next, with interest for the same in the meantime, at the rate of 5% p.a., then this surrender to be void. Dorse: inscribed with a note (in ink), by Samuel Day, dated Feb 25 1879, ‘I have original stamped 53/6d. for presentment at next Court’; and pencilled notes (undated) ‘£120 now secured: £100: £30 paid off upon the occasion of fire and £20 subsequently.
