  • Scope and Content
Asks George to address letters to his new address in Suffolk and has gave his first sermon in his new parish at the beginning of the month. Gives news of Odell village before he left in February 'I told you I think of Odell's accident - the poor fellow was still unable to do any work. Then we lost by consumption William Fairey, the farmer, and Tom Fosket's wife. You knew her I think, Mary Kennedy. Poor thing it was a heavy trial for Tom, who I belive was one of your friends; anyhow he is a most respectable fellow and I felt grieved to the heart to see her waste and die, as her brother Charlie did...after that we lost Deighton, the poor fellow died in the infirmary from some internal complaint.' Sorry to inform George but his sister Kitty is unwell and her lungs are affected 'When I left the village three months ago she was particularly well and the baby was growing finely...I dread anything to do with the lungs in Odell.' George's last letter came while he was away in Rome. His trip also included Paris, Marseilles, Naples, Florence, Venice and Milan. Thinks that George will miss Govenor [James] Douglas and asks George to keep sending Newspapers, The Victoria Chronicle is best
