- Scope and Content-to be buried in St Sepulchre in London near grave of late wife and children and of sister Mrs Jane Elliots; a sum not exceeding 100 guineas to be laid out in a "handsome monument" and £200 for funeral from Hicks Hall in St John Street out of which sum all tenants paying rent of £10 per annum to have a flowered ring worth 12s -to Treasurer and Governors of Christ's Hospital £200 for benefit of the children "harboured" in the said hospital; said children to attend funeral -to president, treasurer and governors of St Bartholomew's Hospital £300 towards the new building to be erected for benefit of the poor people to be harboured in the said hospital -to friends John Bosworth esquire, chamberlain of the City of London, Master Edward Dod late of Cornhill, London, linen-draper and now of Austin Friars, London, John Miller senior of Dunstable, wholesale dealer in straw hats, £10 each for mourning -to Reverend Dr Dry minister of St Sepulchre, Middlesex, 1 guinea for a ring and to Reverend Master Jeremiah Nicholson 1 guinea for a ring -£10 to trustees of Charity School of St Sepulchres, London to use of the boys of the said school -£50 to old faithful servant Arthur Darnweant and £5 for mourning -to footman with testator at time of death £10 for mourning and to coachman and 2 maidservants £5 each for mourning -to wife Ann, brilliant diamond ring with all her own jewels and her gold watch -all household goods, furniture, coach and chariot for her use for life and then to the testator's sister Elizabeth Gilbert and 20 guineas to buy her mourning "which with Several hundred pounds I have paid her towards the erecting and endowing Dunstable Charity School will prove me to be a truly affectionate Brother, brilliant diamond ring, jewels, coach and chariot to be sold and profits applied to debts and legacies -nephew Thomas Chew Gilbert 10 guineas for mourning -if India Stock is not sold at time of decease it is to be sold for payment of funeral charges and legacies -residue of personal estate, subject to wife's jointure, to John Bosworth, Edward Dod and John Miller in trust for grand-daughter Valentina Aynescombe until her marriage and then they are to obtain an Act of Parliament to enable her to change her name to Aynescombe; estate to be held to her use for life and then to heirs of her body, in default to nephew Thomas Chew Gilbert and wife's niece Anne Manning and kinswoman Mrs Smith wife of Reverend --Smith one of the ministers of St Saviours, Southwark "hoping they will make good use of it and not spend and squander away the same in Idle extravagant manner", if nephew Thomas Gilbert Chew profess the Romish religion and by reason thereof cannot enjoy bequests, then to go to godson, son of Reverend Master Edmund Massey of Cole Engine, Essex -£100 each to trustees and makes them executors (provision for appointment of new trustees) Witnesses: Thomas Witham in Cloth Fair, Jane Swannell servant to testator, Robert Henshaw at Cooks Hall Probate: Prerogative Court of Canterbury by executors as named in will attested as true copy of office copy by John Montague Jones and Charles Watson
