    "George Nicholls of Dunstable constable on his oath saith that on the first day of September instant ...Geo Sams now present charged one Thomas Norris in this examinants custody as an unlicenced Hawker or Pedlar, that he took the Prisoner to the Red Lyon in company with the said Geo Sams, and another man that afterwards finding the Revd Mr Mead was not at home upon applying to Him they returned to the Red Lyon and while they were there a large mob assembled round the house as Exam[inant] believes to the number of forty or fifty persons, that the mob pulled up the window and threatened to rescue the Pris[oner] Thos Norris, and heard them say fetch them out and that He saw the prisoner James Luttley at the window among the foremost of the mob, that he did not like their proceeding and kept his eyes from them as much as possible and examinant saith being himself in bodily fear he requested Geo Sams to let the prisoner go, who consented, and he was set at Liberty.
