  • Scope and Content
[Recites that a Commission was granted to the late Lord Bishop of Lincoln and others "for inquiring out of the estate of the Manor of Sheppo" formerly conveyed to certain persons for charitable uses concerning the town of Over Gravenhurst, and that Henry, Earl, of Kent, had received the profits thereof amounting to 40 marks yearly, & had paid only £3 yearly to charitable uses. The Commission decreed that the Earl should pay the residue of the said 40 marks, (deducting the yearly payment of £3 to Wm. Whitebread, Wm. Milward, Peter Lucas & John Shepheard, of the said place), & that the Manor should be used for the finding & maintenance of a minister, & repair of the church of Over Gravenhurst. Recites also that the case was reheard, & that the said Earl was ordered to pay £20 to the vicar & £10 to the townsmen yearly. And also recites that the said Earl now refuses to perform the agreement].
