- Admin/biog historyThe parishes of Upper and Lower Gravenhurst, which had from time to time been held in plurality from the 17th century, were united by Order in Council dated 14 August 1972. The church of Saint Giles, Upper Gravenhurst became the parish church and Saint Mary’s, Lower Gravenhurst, was declared redundant. The Churchyard at Upper Gravenhurst was closed in 1901 and the Churchyard at Lower Gravenhurst remained in use until 1992. Saint Giles was declared redundant in 2007 and the parish united with Shillington.
- Scope and ContentNote: the parishes of Upper and Lower Gravenhurst, which had from time to time been held in plurailty from the Seventeenth Century, were united by Order in Council dated 14 August 1972. Under this order, the church of St.Giles, Upper Gravenhurst became the parish church, and St.Mary's, Lower Gravenhurst, was declared redundant. As the Churchyard at Upper Gravenhurst was closed in 1901, however, the Lower Gravenhurst churchyard remained in use as the Burial ground for the parish. It was closed in 1992. This list includes those registers and records which relate to Upper Gravenhurst alone, and also those for the two parishes together. The records which relate solely to Lower Gravenhurst are listed separately.
