Scope and Content
Daily entries include observations on the weather and jobs undertaken at Manor Farm:
- Usual jobs on the farm such as ploughing, harrowing, drilling, weeding, fertilising, fencing, cutting hay, harvesting, baling, etc.
- Cattle: calving, milking, feeding, when out in fields, vet visits for T.T. tests and emergencies, taking cows to market.
- Agricultural machinery; purchase and repairs, using Olivers Agricultural Machinery.
- Family and social events such as visits from family and friends, illnesses of family, employees and friends, marriages and funerals.
- Visits to local towns for shopping, banking, and other events.
At the beginning of the year, the workers on the farm as George Smith and Gary Ward. Also references to B.C. [Bernard Cooper?] and occasionally Eddie. Entires mention B.C. and Gary having days at college.

27 Apr: Went to hospital to see Barbara Bates.
6 May: Cup final. Leeds won.
21 May: Writer went on holiday [handwriting changes to that believed to be of Anne McClelland]
26 May: Cows got in churchyard during night.
2 Jun: A dead animal upset us all.
8 Jun: Returned from holiday.
27 Jun: Aunt Emma 93rd Birthday.
5 Jul: Royal Show. Nice day but tiring.
Note after 22 Jul: Got all the hay work finished this week.
12 Aug: Barbara Bates funeral.
22 Aug: Combine broke down on A5.
23 Aug: Combine still stick on A5.
24 Aug: Combine arrived -started combining.
7 Sep: Claude, Alasdair and Ken Rance went to Buckhamshire Show.
16 Sep: Studham sports afternoon.
17 Sep: Chapel harvest festival.
24 Sep: Marie's baby christened.
1 Oct: Church harvest festival.
4 Oct: Claude measured fro a suit at Burtons.
