But I am very sorry that it [as] occured in my past its, I am a married Soldier with a family & I should be pleased if you would deal with me very lightly & that I will promise the Lord & Gentlemen that I will not have anymore intoxicating drinks of any description & I will make a fresh start & turn over a new leaf for the sake of my wife & little children & I hope & trust with all my heart that you will study the case through & send me away to the front & that will make a man of me at once as I have got a good character while I have been in the Army so will you please do your best for me & let me go to the front straight away just for my wifes sake & then she will know that i am serving my country & doing my share of fighting as well asthe other married soldiers is doing today.
