On 6th January 1914 at the Petty Sessions Court in Long Eaton Derbyshire Harrington Thorpe was charged that on 17th December 1913 in Sawley he did feloniously steal take & carry away one purse vaued at 1/- & the sum of six shillings in money the goods & chattels of Nellie Amelia Smith The defendant having consented to be dealt with summarily is convicted of the offence & imprsioned at Derby for 2 months with hard labour.
