Will (copy) of Thomas Boswell, of Upper Dean, esq.
To wife Pen. For life farmhouse in occ. Richard Dalby and own occ., charged with £5 p.a. to Sarah Michael of Dean “but it my desire that Sarah Michaell shall attend the publick worship of God in the church of Dean all Lord’s days and other days when there shall be public prayers unless she shall have any disease”; also house and land in occ. William Laughton; (then to nephew Dillingham Boswell); also leasehold lands at Pertenhall held of Corpus Christi College; (then to her nephew Simon Taylor)
To nephew Dillingham Boswell (in addition to above) household goods and plate (except chest of linen to wife), but wife to have use of goods and plate, chariot and chariot horses, and harness and her own horse, and milch beasts and hay dry at testators decease and firewood, if she keep a widow; but if she marry only the chest of linen
To m. Hannah Hearn for life farm in Tilbrook purchased of Edward Bassett, clerk, in occ. J. Tamworth, then to nephew Dillingham Boswell
To brother John Boswell for life 2 closes in Goldington in occ. Thomas Richards, baker
To nephew Thomas Boswell £500 at age 21, to nephew Edward Boswell £3000 similarly; with advance beforehand if necessary to go to university or set up in trade
To nieces Mary and Penelope £200 each
To minister and churchwardens of Dean £25 to buy a silver flagon for communion wine and silver plate for bread, with donor’s name engraved thereon
To every housekeeper in Dean that will accept of it 2s.6d
