He was a setter and fork lift truck driver – he had previous knowledge of farm tractors. He was born on 6-12-1921. He was captured in the desert in Africa, sent to Liverpool and then Moorby Prisoner of War Camp near Horncastle, Lincolnshire. He worked on a farm (for Mr Brown) and lived in. They married in March 1951 and came to Bedford in about 1963. He worked for 19 years at Ridgmont until he was made redundant when it closed.
