Digital scan of a photograph of Stewartby House, where Mr. Hill’s father moved in 1938. It had 5 bedrooms and a billiard room. There were 2 maids looking after the house. It had central heating, but not in the war. The rent was 25 shilling per week. During the war there were 10 soldiers in the dining room and 4 women in one of the bedrooms. The house was later demolished and replaced by flats. The photograph shows the gate with part of the house to the left.
