  • Scope and Content
Mary Medhurst says; I am a Teacher at the Dunstable Road School Luton and reside at 10 Rothsay Road Luton, and occupy there a room at the back on the house. There is a french window opening from the room into the garden. In order to enter the room anyone would have to come in by the front door or get over one of the fences at the back. There is an open passage from the street to the rear of the next door premises, no 12. The fence between no. 10 & no. 12 is an iron fence that a man could easily get over. I left for school at half past one o'clockon the afternoon of 31st October last. The french window was closed . The landlady's daughter remained in the house. I returned to my room about half past four. I missed my clock, the piece stone on the pedistal was there but the clock was gone. The clock produced to me is the one I missed. I value it at 12 shillings & 6 pence. When I left my room ar half past one the clock was on the centre of the mantlepiece in my room. The catch of the french window can be lifted and the window opened from the outside by turning a knob on handle. Mary Medhurst.
