- Scope and ContentIn the County of Derby. Petty Sessional Division of Chesterfield. Before the Court of Summary Jurisdiction, sitting at Chesterfield. The sixth day of February One Thousand nine hundred and nine. HARRY HUMPHRIES of Bedford (thereinafter called the Defendant), being an adult within the meaning of the Summary Jurisdiction Act, 1879, is this day charged for that he, on the 18th day of December One thousand nine hundred and eight at the Parish of Bolsoverin the County aforesaid, by means of certain false pretences unlawfully did obtain of the from one John William Ward the sum of one pound one shilling in money, with intent to defraud; contrary to the statute. The Defendant, having consented to be dealt with summarily, is convicted of the said offence: And it is Adjudge that the Defendant, for his said offence be imprisoned in His Majesty’s Prison at Derby and there kept to hard labour for the space of three months.
