Examination of John Hill; declares his innocence - was at his masters's gate, Richard Riley of Barton, at 3pm and returned to his work at 3.15pm "and passed the mean while in eating his dinner". Information of Humphrey Adams, Barton, blacksmith, he was in the Rose & Crown with John Hill alias Jack Oliver and William Johnson, just before Levi Studman came in and they went away at about 10.15 p.m.
