Letter from John Robins Matthews, 15 Grafton St. to his uncle T J Hooper. “My dear Uncle, The kind exertions of Colonel Foquett have secured for me the vacant place of assistant to the Borokai Tea Company, I leave this situation in a fortnights time & shall leave England as early in March as possible as the extreme hot weather will soon set in. Mama says she has written to you saying that she & Mr Winter consent to my drawing £100, I have a small account at the Birkbeck Bank & as I have to pay my own passage & outfit I should be glad if you would put it to my credit there…”
