Thomas J. Hooper's sister, Henrietta Ann married William Robins Matthews of Lower Swell, Gloucestershire and Newport, Monmouthshire, Grocer. His parents were John (died c1853) & Martha (died 1863). Who also had two sons John, a farmer, & Benjamin, a Solicitor in Cardiff.
William Robins Matthews (c1819 - 30 March 1868) was a tea dealer, grocer, provision merchant & wholesale and wine & spirit merchant at 19 Commercial Street, Newport, Monmouthshire. William Robins Matthews and Henrietta Ann had at least thirteen children.
Scope and Content
The archives consist mainly of correspondence between family members and T J Hooper and legal documents relating to purchases and sales of land, winding up the estates of family members on their decease and some documents relating to William Robins Matthews business affairs.
