Letter from Fanny [Hooper] at Ilfracombe to her brother T J Hooper. “Dearest Tom, on receipt of your telegram sent after John to Barnstaple and he has walked home to us again so he will go on with Mr Nelson unless we hear from you to the contrary. I expect he will work more hours a day now he has but a fortnight. He says he wishes he had a month – he has learnt decimals & v. fractions, he thinks himself most backward in geography & history. We shall try to get Nelson 2 or 3 hours a day if he thinks it would get John on quicker. Love yrs affly Fanny.”
