  • Scope and Content
Has met Mr Winter and has signed Partridge’s valuation. “…I have had 2 more bills for provisions that Willie has ordered, so have written telling him I am not answerable and that he should give his own address so that his letters should not be forwarded to me. Mr W [Winter] says many persons were asking about his accounts yesterday…” Mr Bateman says he will give as much as anybody for the farm. “…What do you think of Sherbourne for our residence Fanny [sister] recommends it; Mr Bateman's nephews were educated there - he says it is a good school but does not consider it a cheap place to live at, for so many go there for the education of their children. His sister’s house was a nine roomed one with garden & orchard at £40 the year, coal was then very dear but now there is a branch rail so it may be cheaper.
