“I shall be much obliged if you will kindly buy the house for me; the amount you name, offering £300 and if need be giving £325 is just what we had expected and thought would be right to give. The agent here, also the present tenant’s wife, told me that three months’ notice could be given at any time. It would be well for the alterations, to be made as early as possible not to drive them into the short days and wet weather so may I trouble you to write and give notice to the Revd D Bowen as soon as you have settled with Mr Graham about the purchase, and please let me know whether there is any deposit needed. When I am certain of the house I will ask Mr Lloyd to let me have the money for it.”
