Scope and Content
Information of James Brandsom of Upper Stondon, labourer. After getting up haulm in Shillington he went to Joseph Richardson who was setting wheat in an adjoining field. Richardson sent William Balls to fetch half a gallon of beer 'to be set up' in Brandsom's name. Richardson afterwards sent for more beer in his own name; they then set wheat together. At 3 p.m. they went home for dinner, After dinner they returned and partook of some more beer and then both fell asleep. Brandsome woke to find Richardson gone and a sovereign missing from his purse.
