  • Scope and Content
Printed letterhead: ‘Duke of Bedford Soldiers’ Institute. Conducted by Rev HG Reynolds’, ‘Landguard Camp, Felixstowe’ Dear Papa, There seems to be quite a muddle over my re-employment, so I took the steps proposed by Louis and wrote to Mr Coxhead a few days ago. I have enclosed the rough draft of my letter and I think it should produce some results, either good or bad, don’t you? It is impossible to gather from the papers whether the army of occupation will be recruited voluntarily or otherwise, but there is some hope that I shall not have to go. Had I returned to Tyler’s [Hayward Tyler], as I might have done, I should have been demobilised by now. Chance seems to rule in the Army, whatever name you give it. I do not wish to go abroad, even for the shortest period of service. Please tell mamma that Kathie is quite well. Our strike is over and we have settled down more or less, but I think it did a great deal of good, for the training is lighter and I think that demobilisation is being hastened as much as possible. I have just changed coats with one fellow who is going and he has seen less service than I. Please remember me to all and tell Maud I will write. I am Your loving son Cyril
