  • Scope and Content
    - to wife Mary, for life all freehold and copyhold property in Harpenden and elsewhere (copyhold property having been surrendered to the use of his will) after her decease to son Edward for ever but chargeable with sums of £20 each to 6 younger sons, John, Thomas, William, Joespeh, Benjamin and Samuel, if living at wife's death, and £10 each to 6 daughters, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, Anne and Harriot if living at wife's death. To be paid at 21, or marriage (for daughters) and at 21 for sons. If under age etc then to be paid when reach 21 with 4% per annum interest. - to each of 7 sons a further £20. - to each of 6 daughters a further £10 to be paid by executrix, when children are 21 etc. Share of any dying to be divided among survivors. - to wife for maintenance of younger children residue of personal estate. Wife appointed sole executrix. Witnesses Thos Stokes, Geo Lawrence, Thos Biggs. Probate Hunts Archdeaconry.
