  • Scope and Content
Dear Mama, When I arrived at Rothesay Road they treated me very nicely, and sent me to see Prince, but he said the Navy would refuse me on the same grounds as the Air Force and though I might have tipped him it would have meant twelve years. I was sent to Kempston Barracks and have been detained here until they here from the War Office where my papers or a letter has been sent. You must not build any hopes, but at least it means a delay which every one does not get. I am confined to Barracks at present as I have no uniform, but I am as happy as can be expected and fellow next to me shares and practices my views so do not be downhearted, mama dear. I have absolutely nothing to do and yesterday I hoped that they would send me home for the weekend at least, but the colonel refused and my only hope is to get leave out of barracks and slip home. I was very disappointed when he refused me, but I had to put up with it. Don’t be too upset and make Louis and papa miserable, and do as I do, hope for the best. I will write every day, but must catch the post now. I am Your loving son, Cyril PS I hope you got my telegram yesterday.
