  • Scope and Content
Letterhead from Church Army Hostel, Buckingham Palace Hotel, SW1. Dear Mama, On Wednesday evening we were given a splendid bed in the hostel of which I have enclosed a pictorial pamphlet [not included], and in the morning after a breakfast which might have been worse, we went to Brook Street which is opposite Hyde Park and near Park Lane. I feel very mad as I watch the aristocrats in private cars and taxies eyeing us with evident amusement. We waited all day at Brook Street to be seen by another officer but in vain. This morning may bring forth results and then may be move to Blandford in Dorsetshire though what the chances of getting into the RAF are I do not know, some seem very hopeful and others pessimistic. My watch is improving slowly and I shall give it another chance before returning it. I write to you as soon as something is settled. Yours with love, Cyril Best Love to Papa and Louis.
