Scope and Content
It would be much appreciated if the Trustees of the Municipal Charities would assist the Commissioners regarding the following matter.
It is necessary to appoint new trustees of the above Charity. A scheme of the Commissioners dated the 17th May 1916 appointed the Executive Committee for the time being of the Bedford Charity Organisation Society (later known as the Bedford Guild of Help) to be the Trustees of the above Charity but the Guild has now ceased to exist, having expended all its Funds. It is hoped that the Trustees of the Municipal Charities will agree to administer this Charity as well as the Municipal Charities.
A small amount of £52. 12. 7. 3 ½% War Stock is vested in the Official Custodian for Charities on behalf of the Charity and produces an income of only £1. 16. 10. per annum. I enclose a copy of the scheme referred to and you will see that the income is applicable for the benefit of the poor of the Borough of Bedford in such a manner as the Trustees think fit.
