Letter to Sir Richard Regarding ‘Hawes Charity’

Mr. A. A. Hixon, 33 Gratton Road, Bedford, Died on 26th December 1950. I shall be obliged if you will supply me with a name and address of a person to fill the vacancy as from the week commencing 31st December 1950. With reference to your letter of 6th October last, I made enquiries and ascertained that Mrs. Sarah Makeham, 63 Bower Street, Bedford was in Hospital and not likely to return to her home. Mr A. Havill, 16 Brace Street, Bedford, was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. F. C. Myers. With reference of your letter of the 18th ultimo enclosing a list of names, it would seem that Mr. S, E. Cullip, 62 Collie Road, Bedford, is rather a young man to be a recipient of the Hawes or Dunham Charities. I did recommend his name to a certain source for help at Christmas and I am certain a grant was made.
