Thank you for your letter with regard to the Charities of Bedford. It is true there are a number of small Charities. I endeavoured to get them joined up so as to administer them under one Committee. Unfortunately the charity commissioners will not consent to do this as the charities were left for different purposes and areas. Mr Davison is on our Committee who is Relieving Officer and who is closely in touch, not only with our Charity but others, and knows the people who are helped. The Council of Social Services could render assistance most certainly especially by advising us on all likely cases for assistance.
