- TitleLetter from Anne Barker, sent from Northchurch, Great Berkhamsted, to Amabel Hume-Campbell, Lady Polwarth. His Majesty has given General [Gerard] Lake an appointment in Ireland, which is likely to call him there very soon, and for some length of time. He means to take his daughters with him, and his eldest son [Francis Gerard Lake] is to be his aide de camp. The writer is finding it difficult to reconcile herself to the seperation, but it will be advantageous to the general, and is a great mark of the King's kindness.
