    Alexander Hume-Cambell, was the son of Hugh Hume-Campbell and Elizabeth, nee Crompton. Elizabeth Hume-Campbell, nee Crompton was the daughter of Windmill[s] Crompton [1705-1771] and his wife Elizabeth, nee Partridge [1707-1770]. Elizabeth had a sister, Anne [1732-1800] who married Edward Barker [1729-1773], who is the writer of the letters. Several letters refer to Anne Barker's children: Edward Barker. Married - wife's name unknown. Elizabeth Barker [died 1788] who married Gerard Lake, 1st Viscount Lake and had issue. Rev. Francis Henry Barker. Rector of Northchurch, Hertfordshire, 1793-1830. Married Elizabeth Bonafond in 1791 and had issue.
