- Scope and ContentReads in the newspaper that Sir Joseph Yorke is to be one of the new Secretaries of State. Writer has not met Lady Elizabeth Lindsay, but hears she is handsome and amicable. Has heard that Lady Polwarth proposes to go north with Lady Grantham for the summer. Writer has been at Aston Clinton since the 29th of June. Lord and Lady Marchmont dined yesterday. Son Francis inhabits a little lodging at Tring this year. Mr Gore's house is let to Mr Cussans, who married one of the late Admiral Holborne's daughters. [Thomas Cussans married Catherine Holburne in 1775]. He has taken the house only for a twelvemonth. Writer is going to Sunninghill to see son Edward. September is promised to her sister.
