Alvin Roy Black, formerly of Mareth Road, Bedford, was jailed for life at the Old Bailey in July 2001, after being convicted of the murder of Timothy Nalty, 35, who was shot dead in his bed in the early hours of September 12, 1995. In November 1997, Black was jailed for life for the murder of German tourist Johanna Czardebon, 56, who was shot dead in an armed robbery at a Bedford hotel in May 1996.
