Bedfordshire on Sunday was a free newspaper. It became part of the Trinity Mirror group and in September 2017 was published for the last time. It was replaced in October 2017 by a free midweek newspaper distributed throughout the county called Bedfordshire Midweek but this ceased publication in 2018. In 2017 it was part of the Trinity Mirror group, which rebranded as Reach plc in 2018.
Scope and Content
The first issue of Bedfordshire on Sunday (BOS), then called Bedford On Sunday, appeared on 6 March 1977. Back issues are held at Z287 but can in any case be consulted by ordering the paper by title and date. When BOS developed its local editions e.g Mid-Beds edition,in the 1980s and 1990s, the RO only kept the North-Beds version. [Z287 has now been deleted from the RO holdings - 2015]. There are three series of photographs, male portraits (X881/4), female portraits (X881/5), and subjects and places (X881/6-7). These comprise a mixture of colour and black and white photographs, with occasional printed brochures, from a variety of sources.
