Scope and Content
(I) Grant of 20 September 1542 by Joan Holloway of Cople, widow to John Holloway, her son, of a messuage with adjoining croft in Cople
Feoffment of 30 September 1542
Parties:
(i) Johanne Holloway of Cople, widow
(ii) John Holloway, son of Johanne
Operative Part:
- (i) enfeoffed (a) to (ii)
Property:
(a) messuage and adjoining croft in Cople
Proviso
- that (i) provide (ii) with “sufficient mete, drinke and Apparrell at the proper costs and charges duringe the natural life of the sayd Johanne” and that he suffer her to have “the chamber lyinge on the south sude of the foresaid messuage with free egresse & regresse to the same duringe her life” and that John and his heirs “sufficiently keepe at there cost & charges for the sayd Johanne fineskeop[?] of & upon the premisses and suffer the sayd Johanne to have the profits of the same duringe her life”
(III) Marriage Settlement by Feoffment of 18 February 1653 [1654]
Parties:
(i) John Holloway of Cople, yeoman;
(ii) Judith Atterton of Northill [“Norrill”]
Operative Part:
- (i) in consideration to a marriage to (ii) and for a jointure to (ii) enfeoffed (a) to (ii)
Property:
(a) farmhouse in Cople in occupation of (i) with pasture of Sir Samuel Luke E, King’s Highway W and pasture of Nicholas Spencer N
Habendum:
- to (i) and (ii) or the life of the longest lived
Proviso
- if there were issue of John and Alice Hollowaye then Alice was to have only ordinary third or dower fourth out of (a)
Indorsed: “The Coppy of 3 Deeds of Feoffment. These are true Coppyes of the 3 Deeds within written copied by me John Jones part of the original Deeds”
