- Scope and ContentI lost not a moment in complying with your request by seeking Mr Ellice's aid - knew he would do what he could & that he has failed I regret. Before I applied to Mr Ellice, was told all arrangements were made depending on Lord Durham - & that application to Lord Glenely was worst possible choice to give chance of success. CHANGE OF HANDWRITING Sorry to disappoint by taking pen - Lady Elizabeth suffering so much with pain in arm. We too pass'd year of sorrowing; a darling little Grandson, only Son of Mrs Shaw Lefevre [nee Emma Whitbread], after many months' suffering in consequence of Measles, died. Another dear Child remain'd in hopeless state, has lately appeared to rally, to revive hopes of poor Mother sadly worn watching day & night over her. All these sufferings largely shared with her daughter, aggravated by unexpected death of her youngest Brother, the Bishop of Hereford [Hon Edward Grey] who has left a widow & fourteen children. J Grant
