  • Scope and Content
" In reply to your enquiry relative to what Mr Barnes said to me about fixtures and other things it occurred to me upon my ___ to take the greenhouse and forcing pits and the fittings of stable. What I have agreed to take are the stoves and blinds throughout the house, shelves ___fittings in offices, indeed all things that are considered fixtures and that comprise all things that are not part or parcel of the freehold. They are generally taken from one incumbent to another. I may say that in your case at Cowbitt all things fixed on purpose by you are not included in Deacon's estimate are things which belong to you and are necessary to the house should be taken at a valuation by the gentleman who is to succeed you. The windows of Great Horkesley are of unusual size and some of them ___ the blinds and poles are made purposely. Mr Smith named so reasonable a price that I agreed to take them and also the oil cloth in the hall. What I thought was useful and necessary providing the price was reasonable I agreed to. Since I wrote to you Mr Smith has written saying he omitted all the growing crops in garden and 63 acres wood hurdles in park; they will be included in the valuation. As soon as Mr Smith and myself agree upon an amount and he sends me the correct inventory I will forward the same to you and apprise you of the day of the sale. There may be some things to be sold that you would like to purchase such as curtains to the windows etc. They are seen(?) to fetch but little money and if Mr Bedale attends the sale he will advise you about them"
