    Recites - 1. Indenture dated 22 February 1583, William Vaux, Lord Harrowden and Henry Vaux his son to Lewis, Lord Mordaunt for £1100 the manors of Charlton and Chellington with the advowson etc. - 2. October 1593 Lewis, Lord Mordaunt to Edward Watson and John Wake 2 parts of manors of Carlton and Chellington devided into 3 and 2 parts in 3 of manor of Stachden and Delwicke. - 3. 23 March 44 Elizabeth [1602] Inquisition at Bedford on death of Lewis, Lord Mordaunt. John, Lord Mordaunt, grandfather of Lewis was seized of 40 acres of land & 3 acres of pasture in Carlton bought of Richard Mitchell and enfoeffed Thomas Nicholls and Henry Edwards to his own use for life. This decends to Lewis. Lewis died seised of the mannor of Carlton and Advowson & 30 acres of wood in Carlton bought of Thomas Adams and of mannor in Stagsden called Stagsden & Dilwicke and lands bought of William Cornwallis and Lucy his wife [details land in Stagsden, Bromham bought of George Goodfellow and land in Stevington]. Lewis died 6 June last. Henry, his son and heir, is 33 years old. -4. 4 January 1608 Indenture between Henry, Lord Mordaunt, Thomas Lock and John Row, Edward Earle of Worcester, Roger Earl of Rutland, Sir Francis Fane, Sir Edward Ratcliffe, Sir Thomas Compton and George Sherley. Lord Mordaunt gives land in trust for him, then his wife Margaret and at 21 years to the use of John his son and heir apparent. - 5. 6 February 6 James I [1609] Henry, Lord Mordaunt's will. - 6. 21 April Inquisition on the death of Henry, Lord Mordaunt. John, his son and heir is 10 years old. -7. 9 November 9 Charl I. [1633] John, Lord Mordaunt, made indenture. Court declared Lord Mordaunt' title safe on grounds of inheritance rather than entail.
