Went to St. Albans to attend the trial of a man (only one of three being in custody) for dragging the fish pond at night. Had to leave before the end, so does not know the result. Jonathan and Mary Rashleigh are staying with the two grandchildren. Refers to daughter Henrietta not coming to stay at Aldenham for her confinement 'for various reasons.' Henrietta is not well due to overexerting herself, and is unhppy about a disagreement between her husband Reginald and the writer. Thw writer gives his account of the disagreement.
