Reference to letters of introduction; would like £4 - £5 worth of pretty things that would do for presents, as little foreign things are more esteemed than common English ones of the same value. Mention of poor health of William's grandmother, Sophia Stuart and the opiates given to ease her pain 'it is just possible [that] when the weather gets warmer she may mend a little, but I view it as a possibility more than a probability.' Aunt Lady Louisa Stuart has been unwell; she will be aged 90 in the summer. Also refers to the health of Aunt Penn [Isabella Penn, nee Forbes] and William's father. Wishes William a happy birthday for 7 March. Comments about William's visit to the Holy Land.
