Gives Libby's account of Jeffery being abandoned. Thought he might have drowned himself on account of hunger. Lieutenant Moles, in command of the boat, interceded with Lake. Thinks perhaps Lake was drunk when he gave the order; his tyranny. Cannot trace origin of report that Jeffery was taken off the island of Sombrero by an American frigate (perhaps a report spread by Lake's friends).
