Robert Jeffery's mother has not heard of him since he was abandoned on Sombrero. A seaman of H.M.S. Recruit, John Libby, described the island. About 4 weeks later, the Recruit again visited the island but did not find Jeffery. Later heard a rumour that he had been taken off. Captain Lake's threats to abandon others on islands. Bad treatment of men on this ship. Jeffery's clothes were sold to the ship's company.
