I remember you went to Haddon Hall - so you will have seen this. I prefer the smaller houses to the 'palaces' like Chatsworth. The nicest so far was Gawsworth Hall (near Macclesfield) - a Tudor gem: still inhabited. The owners showed us round. My bag is getting heavy with booklets. Conway and Caernarvon today. The Americans are pleasant and amusing. What travellers! They have been everywhere. J.H." [note on card: "received 11/3/71".]
