    Writes that his parish clerk was suspected of being associated with the Luddites. Owing to good character ignored the reports, but at length, owing to representations, had to take notice and so warned him. He, however, was accused of betraying the Luddites who raided his house and shot him. He is in a dangerous condition. Is informed that even if the cost of living is reduced it will not stop the Luddite activity.
