Scope and Content
Discusses the question of tithes on the woods at Purfleet. Is surprised to hear application has been made to enlarge the chapel at Purfleet. It was made without reference to him. Mr [Melville, see W1/4881] Horne, his curate, being a popular preacher, fills the chapel. Should he be succeeded by a less popular parson the attendance would fall off. The chapel is quite large enough for those that usually attend.
