  • Scope and Content
Legend on the back reads "Heather in Scotland. Mountain slopes of the Highlands are richly clad with spruce, pine and silver birch. A profuse carpet of heather in its season adds the glow of colour which clothes the landscape in its typically Highland garb". Stamped with a 3d stamp and franked "Hawick, Roxburghshire 2pm 11 AUG 1964". Reads as: "There is plenty of scenery like this round Hoscote. I pick wild raspberries accompanied by two Labradors and two Siamese cats. Shooting is supposed to begin on Wed. but there are few grouse. Pheasants will be more plentiful later on. We have a houseful, as usual, and many comings and goings - except me! J.H."
