The Whittemore family were related to P W Rutland through marriage, his wife having been Eva Maud Whittemore prior to her marriage. Eva, the daughter of Arthur William and Annie Whittemore, came from a large family. At the time of the 1911 census there were 10 children living at home with Arthur and Annie. The children are known to have included:
Harrey b1891, Mabel b1893, Charles William b1895, Frederick Arthur b1897, Dorothy E b1899, Ernest George b1901, Eva Maud b1902, Florence N b1905, Stanley b1907, Laura H b1909 and Phyllis Amy b1911.
