"["THANET 63256" added to top of letter by hand.] I think we are now all set for your visit on Wednesday. I will hobble down to the station on my two sticks. I hope I am still recognisable, though I don't think I have changed much - apart from my hair, which is much thinner, and whiter, especially at the sides. Anyway, I shall probably be the most sunburnt male in view - though the warm sunshine of last week has given place to bright periods and clouds. The castle has filled up this weekend. Several of the flats which are empty most of the year suddenly find their owners arriving, and the cars stand thick at the entrance. I have my friend Dr.Ian MacQueen here till Tuesday morning. My friend Petrie has gone to Germany (with the car I hoped to meet you with!), but the other bachelor, Frank Jackson, is in residence. I do hope you get a fine day. It makes all the difference. So - till Wednesday. Yours sincerely"
