  • Scope and Content
"I wonder if you would be so kind as to check this little register of attendance at the Sung Eucharist for me for the next few weeks? I told them that I should not present them for Confirmation unless they attended every week. Betty Burgess will be away for the next two Sundays after tomorrow, as they are all going to Grimsby for holidays. Joan Kendall you may not know: she is Mrs. Franklin's evacuee. I intend to take a very strong line about 14-year-olds next year! The 1945 Confirmation is at Millbrook on July 11th. I shall not take any children for preparation for that Confirmation who have reached their 14th. birthday by the end of June. They will be advised to wait until they are 17. Will you broadcast this as widely as you can? I shall announce it publicly in due course. It is the only way to make people let their children come forward at 12-13, before they reach school-leaving age. Yours sincerely,"
