    FIRE SERVICES COMMITTEE first in 1948/9 Yearbook 1949/50 Yearbook: 1. To be the Committee require to be constituted by the Council under Section 20 of the Fire Services Act 1947. 2. to exercise and perform all the powers and duties of the Council under the Fire Service Act 1947, except the following: a) the submission of combination schemes b) the making of a management scheme upon which matters the Committee shall advise the Council. 1965/6 Yearbook: 1. To exercise and perform all the powers and duties of the Council under: a) The Fire Services Acts 1947-1959 (except the submission of combination schemes) b) Sections 40-46 (inclusive), 140 and 148 of the Factories Act 1961 c) The Water Act 1945 d) So much of the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963, as relates to Fire Authorities e) So much of the Licensing Act 1961, as relates to Fire Authorities. 2. To settle or vary the establishment of, or conditions of service of, uniformed Fire Service personnel. 1973/4 Yearbook: 1. a) to e) above. f) Cinematograph Acts 1909-1952 (except the functions delegated to the Local Government Committee). g) The Sunday Entertainments Act 1932, the Sunday Cinema Act 1972 and the Sunday Theatre Act 1972. h) In respect of the licensing of houses of places for the public performance of Stage Plays, the Theatres Act 1968 (except within the Boroughs of Bedford and Dunstable). i) The Gaming Act 1968 j) The Fire Precautions Act 1971 2. To settle or vary the establishment of, or conditions of service of, uniformed Fire Service personnel. 3. To exercise and perform all the powers and duties of the Council under the Civil Defence Acts 1937-1954, and the Defence Regulations.
